Buongiorno da Amalfi Coast!

made it!!!

Despite my trip getting off to a rough start (German TSA chucked the maple syrup bottle from my carry on citing it wasn't "sealed properly"...BULL!!!), it's been amazing since!

The first week of my Euro-romp was a weeklong tour of the Amalfi Coast with G Adventures; the only tour portion of my trip. Not a bad way to start, eh?

I arrived a day before the start date so had a day and a half to explore Naples and stuff my face with as much pizza as I could (it did not disappoint). I met a fellow tour mate on my flight from Germany to Naples so had a partner in crime to overindulge with.

Naples in a nutshell, exceeded my expectations. It had it's fair share of "character" by way of graffiti but there was no shortage of old world charm.  Don't be afraid of it!

On Saturday, we met with the rest of our group for a Welcome Meeting and dinner. Great people... Couldn't ask for any better folks to spend a week with.

We departed for Amalfi Coast on Sunday morning with a stop in Pompeii for the afternoon. Definitely a must see if you're in that part of Italy. It's amazing to see how much of the ancient town was in tact despite being buried in 4-6 metres of ash and pumice. It's a nice little step back in time but if you're spending time in Naples, check out the Archeological Museum where many original artifacts from Pompeii and Herculaneum are on display.

Dang, this post is getting long and I haven't even gotten to Amalfi yet!!!

Let me just start with saying this place is friggin paradise! We were fortunate enough to call Agriturismo Sant' Alfonso our home for the week. It's a GORGEOUS 17th century farmhouse in the mountain top town of Furore that still has many period architectural features. It's run by the Cuomo family; Nikolla, Micaela and their insanely adorable kiddies Giovanna and Luigi.

Words won't do this place justice so I'll try with photos but even still, seeing is believing.

I'll do separate post on the G Adventures tour and Agritursmo once I'm home.

Our week has been jam packed with breathtaking hikes, most of which truly test your endurance and physical capabilities but so worth it at the end, especially since Nikolla and Micaela feed us so well!

We've hiked to many small towns, spent time in the towns of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and completed the longest hike of all "The Walk of the Gods" which did the most damage to my body. Wah wahhhh.

Here are a few snap shots from our adventures.

I think that's enough?

Yesterday was a free day and we sailed off to Capri for the day because you know, we're so rich and famous that we needed to be with our fellow peeps.

Capri = Amaaaaaaazeballs.

Okay, I think this post has gotten long enough!

Round-Up: Tour ends tomorrow and I'm off to Rome for the next leg!

Stay tuned!!!!
